Carter May 16, 2011
Being able to photograph such a private and intimate moment such as child birth is truly one of the best perks to my job. I do my best to give each client their personal space, and privacy best I can under the circumstances. I listen to their desires of the shoot and what they would/wouldn't like from it. I know that it has to be intimidating to not only to loose your modesty for your Dr. and nurses, but then to add into it a photographer, I totally respect that and make it my means to do my best at making them feel comfortable.
Photobucket I was touched to be asked to photograph a birth of one of my clients, who were expecting their 3rd and final baby (maybe) and wanted to have it documented. They didn't know what they were having so they were anxious to meet their new baby. Trisha and Randy went to Riverside Methodist Hospital to be induced and just as they anticipated things went fairly quickly. I arrived to the hospital at 10a.m., as she had been in labor for just a little over three hours. She was content and calm and just eager to get on with the process.

They passed the time watching game show's on tv and talking to each other, trying to make guess's when they thought it would happen. Randy was 100% sure it was a boy, while Trisha was about 70% sure it was a boy....but that she did lean towards it being a boy......maternal instinct?

Trisha's mom, Carolyn waited in the lobby and would come in for quick little visits, giving them words of encouragement and some laughs.

Last I'd known, she was at 3 centimeters, so the nurse came in awhile later to check on her. She gave no signs of what was ahead, but she was a full 10 centimeters and ready to bring this baby into the world.....just like that.
Photobucket
They were pro's at this by now.....having had two babies prior. They were so calm and cool. These two images were just moments before delivery, as the nurse was prepping Trisha.....
Photobucket
Over the last few year's, Riverside no longer allows you to photograph during the actual delivery.......so I just sat back and waited for the moment to arrive.....and I'm sure for Trisha that was just fine.....
Photobucket
And then there he was......just like that....in about 15 minutes, she delivered this beautiful baby boy......they now had three sons.

Carter meeting his Mommy and Daddy....

After a few moments from birth, Carter gave a cry, and they placed him on the warming table...he was so content and at ease, much like his parents. He just layed there looking around this new world around him and took it all in..not making a sound.
Photobucket
Texts and phone calls were made to announce the big news.....
Photobucket
Grandma Carolyn was the first to visit the new baby boy.....with much delight.

Photobucket
It was rather sweet watching Trisha looking him over and memorizing his features and making comparisons and the soft touches to his skin......
Photobucket
I said it there and I'll say it again.....Trisha you look too good for having just had a baby!
Photobucket
Shortly after Carter was born, the boys arrived with their other grandma to meet their new baby brother. Lucas who is 4 was a little more aware of what was going on, but Brady who is 2 was kind of curious who this little guy was in Mommy's arm's.

I love this new family shot.......it says it all. Happiness is family around you.....many blessings to you and your new baby!! Congrats!
