Free Wedding Photography Contest 2012!!!

It's that time.....the start of the new year. A time of year that I usually dread, the winter blues. So I like to do something of a pick me up and give back a little. It's time to announce the FREE Wedding Photography Contest. It's my third year doing this and I love every aspect about it. It's great fun getting to hear the stories of how couples met to their engagement, and seeing the sweet notes that their friends and family will post me. And getting to finally meet the winning couple and get to know them better and share in their excitement.

The past two winning couple's have been so great to work with and get to know them better. It's been such a delight. Here are some of their engagement and wedding photo's.

Rules To Enter:

*Couples may nominate themselves, or be nominated by another person.

*Couple cannot be previously booked with another photographer for their wedding and break contract.

*Couple must have a wedding date set for 2012.

*Wedding must be in the state of Ohio

*Couples must agree to have their stories put online.

How It Works:

-In subject line, please put Nomination for Free Wedding Photography Give-Away

-Please e-mail how the couple met, their proposal story and why they deserve to win. Their wedding date and location(s).

-Send a digital photo of the couple (will be used for announcing the winner)

-Couple's contact information.

-One vote per person please.

THE NITTY GRITTY:

-The 3 finalist couples will be announced on February 9, 2012 here on the blog.

-Voting will begin Friday, February 10th at 9a.m.-Monday, February 13th at 5p.m. (before and after that time will not be counted.)

-The winner's will be announced here on the blog on Tuesday, February 14th at 5p.m.

-Voting will be conducted by friend's and family of the couple. The winner's are chosen by who got the most votes. So be sure to share the new's with everyone.

Tangela and Mike

For year's I've passed from time to time this little old church perched on a hill down past Lancaster and have always dreamed of having a wedding there. The perfect little church. A few weeks prior Tangela contacted me to talk about her wedding and I was giddy to find out her wedding would be at that very church.

Tangela was escorted down the aisle by her son Isaac.

Mike is from England and had just arrived a few days prior to the wedding. It was great meeting him finally.

The church is very intimate, felt like you couldn't move around a lot or else the floor might creak on the old floor. But it was a nice setting to have for their wedding and the friends and family that joined them for the occasion.

Mike and Tangela steal a kiss before we made our way outside to the cold December weather.

Tangela's sister, Martini made all the cupcakes for their reception. She did such a fabulous job. They were so well done and best of all, they tasted just as great.....that is just as important! If she ever decides to quit her day job, she has a talent there to fall back on. Tangela and Mike took off for a warmer climate for their honeymoon. Cheers to the newlyweds!

Brady and Britney's Wedding Day!

A few weeks ago, just before Christmas, Brady and his beautiful bride were married at The Northwest Bible Church. It was the first day of the year we saw a hint of snow and it couldn't have been more perfect for their wedding. The Church was so breathtaking with all the lights and holiday decorations an it served as an awesome setting to their day.

Britney's dress suited her so well, she looked stunning.

Britney has a certain bit of sass about her that just radiates, I like that about her. She has a smile that lights up a room. And a huge heart, very sweet girl indeed.

Brady meanwhile blew off some nervous energy with his groomsmen and dad. Think they were having a little too much fun over in the men's room.

Things were getting a little serious......

I always love to see a marriage start with a prayer before the ceremony. Britney was surrounded by her bridesmaid's and her mom and mother-in-law to be. She gave a heart felt prayer that didn't leave a dry eye in the room, an she was supported all the way.

That first look, both Brady and Britney were just beaming.

We stepped outside to do some portraits real quick, it was a cold day, but Britney didn't seem to mind.....she was perfectly content.

The reception was held at the church as well, everything was decorated up so nicely. I remember months back when I first met with Britney and her telling me about her big day, to finally see her plans in action, everything turned out so nice.

And then there was the cake....it's always fun watching the cake cutting to see what is going to happen. I think Brady knew all along, but he played it off well, he may have even fooled her, but then at the last minute he went in for the wipe down. As with any wedding it got cheers and smiles and Britney took it well. But I have a feeling she'll get the last laugh on that one! Congratulations to you both!! Many long year's ahead!

Kimberly and Prashubh's Wedding Day:

In August, I got to take part in the second wedding for Kimberly and Prashubh. The night before they celebrated with a traditional Hindu ceremony. The second wedding was preformed at Sait Mark's Episcopal Church on a bright sunny afternoon.

I liked that Kimberly incorporated some Hindu aspects to their other ceremony.

Kimberly was so excited to walk down the aisle, as if it was for the first time.

After the ceremony, we went outside of the church for some portraits of the newlyweds. The light of day was so pretty at that time and really made for a beautiful setting.

There was just enough hint of wind that would gust up here and there and take Kimberly's veil.

The celebration continued at The Confluence in Downtown Columbus, overlooking the river.

The cake decor that Prashubh and Kimberly chose were so unique, it was really charming to see something so different.

They danced into the night and enjoyed another wonderful celebration of their commitment to each other.

Katie and Seth 2011's Free Wedding Photography Winners!

I've been so eager to share with Katie and Seth some photos from their wedding day. So many came to share in their special day and it shows how much people care for these two. They got so many votes last February and kind words spoken, I can clearly see why people wanted Katie and Seth to win.

August 21, 2011........

Seth and Katie's wedding was held at Capital City Church in Columbus. It was a gorgeous summer's day with a hint of fall looming. There had been threats of storms to come that day, but it ended to not a drop from the sky.

Seth seemed ever ready to meet his bride.

Katie looked stunning in her gown.....she was breathtaking.

I loved the moment that Katie walked into the room where her bridesmaids were getting ready, having just gotten her dress put on in another room and they caught that first look of her.

The girl's all took a turn to pray for Katie and Seth. What a wonderful way to start your marriage.

A note was handed to Katie shortly before the ceremony from Seth. She could only read so far into it before her eyes began to well up with tears. The girls all started to sing to her to make her laugh.

I want to say thank you so much for your help to Jade from Bella Bride and Tracie for the beautiful work you both did for Katie. As part of my special, Jade offered her make up services and Tracie styled Katie's hair. She looked beautiful!

Seth fit the role of handsome groom well I think!

I don't think there was a dry eye in the church that day as Katie made her way down the aisle. Even I was choked up watching it all unfold before me. I watched as Seth at first kept his eyes firmly on the ground beneath him as she began to walk towards him. As he peered up, he was clearly moved and as their eyes met, Katie began to cry. It was such a beautiful moment.

They finally made it to that moment!

After the ceremony, we went to Ohio State's campus for some photos around Mirror Lake.

Oh how I just love being able to do this for a couple each year...it fills me with great joy to give back. And to be part of such a big day in their lives.

Their reception was held at Valley Dale Ballroom. The place looked like a fairy tale of a setting....perfect for their night together.

We are so happy that we've gotten to know you these last few months and get to know the wonderful couple that you are. You are an inspiration to many.
